The Costa Blanca is often talked about as one place, but the north and south feel very different. The north — the Marina Baixa and Marina Alta — is greener, more dramatic and generally more expensive, with villa markets in Altea, Jávea and Moraira alongside the apartment demand of Benidorm. The south — the Vega Baja around Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa — is flatter, sunnier in winter, more affordable and home to a very large, settled international community.

Neither is better in the abstract; they suit different plans. A buyer chasing capital value and rental strength on a lively coast leans north. A buyer prioritising budget, winter living and an established expat network leans south. Alicante city and its beaches sit in between, offering the most genuine year-round living.
